When it comes to nuclear, there is no such thing as leaving things to chance or not having ample room, and money, to cover all the bases. It became clear the ANC regime has no clue what this means as the NECSA board resigned, amidst information that NECSA is totally bankrupt. Brace yourself for stage 8 #RollingBlackOuts or 10-hour daily blackout, as municipalities are preparing for the worst

Eskom was forced to implement stage 6 load shedding in December – its worst ever blackout – sending the country into a panic as not many people were aware of what that stage actually meant for them.

Municipalities too, were caught off-guard, with Johannesburg electricity distributor City Power saying at the time that it had no load-shedding schedule for Stage 6.

The year is 2020, and generation and maintenance challenges continue to mount at the state company which generates 96% of South Africa’s electricity.

As a result, all municipalities have been advised to adjust their load shedding schedule up to stage 8, the Buffalo City Municipality said in a statement on Saturday (11 January).

With each stage representing a curtailment of 5% of the national load, stage 8 will equate to 40% of the load being shed, the municipality said.

SA’s expected economic growth is adjusted to 0.9% for 2020 – ANC regime is responsible for SA being in such a mess

The World Bank has just adjusted South Africa’s projected economic growth to 0.9% for 2020 amid the uncertainty surrounding Eskom and load shedding. The 1.3% growth that the World Bank initially predicted for 2019 has now also been adjusted to 0.4%.

In spite of these realities, the ANC clings to the ideology that got us into this troubled position. President Ramaphosa explains what their approach to state-owned companies, so-called strategic assets, will remain:

“As we do this, we are clear that the state will retain ownership of all those state-owned enterprises that are strategic. This is so that these entities are able to perform the crucial economic and developmental functions that the market would not own be able to perform. ”

Eskom is now clearly lying, obfuscating and playing with words after it came to light that they are planning to pay out R1, 8 billion in bonuses by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses.

Take into consideration that it was Nersa – National Energy Regulator of South Africa – that called it bonuses in court papers, which is obviously statements made under oath.

Does Eskom now wants us to believe them over Nersa?
Eskom is now playing word and mind games with us by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses . They also say that not all employees are entitled to these 13th cheques. That is where the lie alarm is going off and red flags are going up. What kind of employer does not give a uniform salary structure to its employees? Eskom also says. that employees can choose themselves if they want their total salary package to be divided into 12 or 13 cheques

So if we follow what Eskom has lied, we can then logically conclude that if an employee choose to have 13 pay packages per year and still gets an amount only intended for some employees, but not all, that amount only due for some is in fact a 14th cheque then.

This warped system has enabled corrupt individuals to benefit personally from contracts as the country’s key services have steadily eroded. While BEE provided the mechanisms for state capture, the SA-specific term for wide-scale graft, it has also facilitated the spread of parasites that have, and continue to, suck the life-blood out of the country. This is the assessment of environmental expert Professor Anthony Turton, who warned some years back that Eskom was in critical condition – but no-one was listening. Now raw sewage flows in many streets and the electricity is turned off for hours on end, in what looks like a return of sorts to the dark ages, he points out. Solidarity: Eskom is in crisis due to years of looting, mismanagement and race obsession; asking taxpayers to fund R1.8 billion in performance bonuses is wrong

Eskom is in crisis and should be treated as a crisis. The company is hopelessly bankrupt and operationally fragile due to years of looting, mismanagement and race obsession. The new CEO, André de Ruyter, has to be given comprehensive powers similar to that of a business rescue practitioner. If Eskom is not treated as if it is in business rescue, it is going to explode on itself and South Africa.

Asking in court documents that taxpayers should finance R1,8 billion in performance bonuses does not fall within a framework of crisis thinking. We did not have access to the documents, but if they ask for R1.8bn worth of performance bonuses to be financed, it is wrong. #TheAfricanWay – SA Faces Extended #RollingBlackouts Due to Collapsing Infrastructure Yet Eskom Secretly Wants To Pay R1,8 BILLION (R88,000 per employee) in Performance Bonuses!

#ParasiticParastatal Eskom seems to have a strange idea about what a performance bonus is and why it actually gets paid. It secretly wants to spend R1,8 BILLION on performance bonuses for the current and following 2 years, even as we face phase 4-6 “load shedding” at the moment and it seems like daily rolling blackouts will be with us for quite some time.

According to Rapport Eskom did not disclose this fact to the public and NERSA (National Energy Regulator of South Africa) found out about this all by itself. It is not a new occurrence either as in 2017 Eskom paid out R4, 2 BILLION in bonuses, so they cannot claim ignorance. If that amount is evenly divided amongst Eskom’s 47658 employees, it amounts to R88,000 per employee!

In 2016 bonuses amounted to R2,1 BILLION. Last year Eskom did not want to give bonuses but were forced to give R10,000 each to more than 30,000 employees after they were convinced to go on strike. That amount was on top

14 SOEs rack up more than R1.4 billion in irregular expenditure

Auditor General (AG) Kimi Makwetu said not one of the 14 big state-owned entities (SOEs) audited by his office received a clean audit, a poorer outcome than last year.

Makwetu was revealing the results of the national and provincial audits for the past financial year at Parliament on Wednesday. He said the financial health of SOEs remained under significant pressure with doubts about whether they could continue operating without further financial help from the government.

Makwetu said the 14 SOEs notched up R1.4 billion in irregular expenditure but warned this figure could rise as four of them – Denel, the SABC, SA Express and the SA Forestry Company could not make full disclosure on this.

Meanwhile, irregular expenditure racked up by Transnet (R49.9 billion) and Eskom (R6.6 billion), who have private auditors, amounted to R57 billion.
